Captain’s Log: Stardate 08/24/2018

Here’s what’s new with us!

We’ve been getting back into the flow again after spending a few days at the beach in Destin, Florida where we met up with Tina’s sister, Tasha.

  Then we spent a couple days in Tallahassee to visit with Tina’s Mom, Dad, Brother, and his family.

Our time with family was short but well enjoyed.  We got to see some really fun pictures that Tina’s Dad pulled out like this one of the oldest Tongen kids…  Tina’s Dad is the one in the middle with the biggest grin.  Hazel (Tina’s Grandmother and part inspiration for Leonard & Hazel™)  had eight children altogether with her husband Omar.  This is a picture of the oldest four (David, Duane, Danny, Dianne).

So, we’re back to work and officially open for business.  The public response has been encouraging.  We have more goods to list in the shop but we are waiting for them all to arrive.  We’re told we can expect delivery by the end of next week.  The thing with handmade items is that delivery times are harder to estimate.  Factors like weather conditions can affect delivery times and that is what we are experiencing a bit of now.

We have also been doing heavy planning into growing the Leonard & Hazel™ brand.

At the same time, we are launching our own Laser Engraving Machine Manufacturing Company called Deftmark™.  This will allow us to mark, personalize and brand all of our manufactured furniture and gifts ourselves.  Some of our offerings may be numbered and limited to only 100 pieces, each marked with a limited edition lot number.

Many things are on hold until we complete this task, so the pressure is on.  We have literally spent 100’s of hours working on resolving this issue at hand.  This process should be complete by the end of this month.

At the same time, we have been considering moving our office location and have been scouting out other property in the Boulder, Colorado area.  This move is not a for sure thing yet, but a strong possibility since our current office space is being sold to a new owner.   We really like our office here but under the new circumstances, we think we can possibly find something to represent our needs better.

All this has been very exciting and stressful at the same time.  We’ll keep you updated!
